Carrying out ground treatment for tunnel construction under a live railway - The Three Runway System project is of such a scale that it is almost equivalent to building a whole new airport next to the existing Hong Kong International Airport. The project was divided into different packages, including the provision of a new 2,600m-long Automated People Mover and an equally long high-speed Baggage Handling System, for which Intrafor was hired.

Gantry operation and pretensioning works for a new bridge in singapore - The construction of a new road access at Tuas View Basin in Singapore required the design and construction of two viaducts (Route 2 and Route 3) from Tuas South Avenue 9 to Tuas View Basin. VSL’s scope of works included the provision, assembly and operation of the gantry for the erection of the seven main-span U-girders for Route 2 and Route 3.

224 HOUR MARINE DRILLING FOR HIGH QUALITY DCM CORE

Hong Kong International Airport started the construction of the 3rd Runway in 2016. Extensive deep cement mixing (DCM) was undertaken to stabilize the marine deposits prior to reclamation. Intrafor developed specialist sampling and drilling techniques to ensure the integrity of DCM samples sent to laboratories for quality testing.

330M LAND TO SEA HDD CONDUIT FOR OPTIC FIBRE CABLE

Optic Marine Offshore Ltd sought Intrafor, as an experienced HDD contractor, to install a 330m submarine conduit for the landing of the Asia-Africa-Europe (AAE-1) submarine fibre optic cable. The landing at Hong Kong's remote Cape D'Aguilar was particular challenging as all plant had to be mobilized by sea on a spring high tide and with sensitive marine protected area.

400M LAND TO SEA HDD CONDUIT FOR OPTIC FIBRE CABLE

Superloop Hong Kong Ltd an Australian telecommunications provider, was the first to see the potential to link Tseung Kwan O to Chai Wan by subsea fibre optic cable. Intrafor was contracted to install a 400m conduit by HDD method below the seawall and construct a beach manhole. This was Intrafor's first successful collaboration between a telecommunications provider and their consulting engineer to provide an HDD conduit for fibre optic cable landings.

BUILDING A DIAPHRAGM WALL IN THE HEART OF A CITY

Building a diaphragm wall in the heart of a city - Hong Kong’s Trunk Road (T2) will connect the Central Kowloon Route to the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel along a key axis that stretches through the centre of Hong Kong and near Victoria Harbour. The Trunk Road takes the form of a tunnel approximately 3km in length carrying a two-lane dual carriageway.

DEEP CPT FOR ADVANCED PILE DESIGN

Hongkong Electric Company were expanding Lamma power station by replacing coal-fired units with cleaner gas-fired units, the foundation contractor needed a cost effective design to deal with superficial deposits exceeding 80m depth. With the contractors specialist geotechnical consultant (Victor Li & Associates) a series of deep CPT's were conducted to a maximum depth of 96m. Tests were carried out at 10 locations with 43 predrilling stages and 192 dissipation tests.

THREE 175M LAND TO LAND HDD CONDUITS FOR POWER CABLE

Hongkong Electric Company were expanding the capacity of their power grid network to Middle Island, the home of two yacht clubs. Intrafor was subcontracted to provide 3no., 175m long HDD installed pipes to carry the 22kV cables. The land to land HDD pipes were drilled at shallow depth below a marine channel using pilot hole & reaming methods to intercept the narrow cable pit at 5m depth.
